Council’s Christmas and New Year service changes

Adult Care will continue to deliver services for vulnerable people throughout.
Sure Start Children’s Centres are open as usual up to Thursday 24 December 2015 (please check December timetables for the individual centres) and then closed - with the exception of well-baby clinics and pre-booked ante-natal/post-natal appointments - until Monday 4 January 2016.
Children’s Social Care Services will continue to operate throughout and can be contacted on 0300 303 0440. To report a concern about a child or adult outside of working hours, at weekends or during Christmas Day, Boxing Day or New Year’s Day, contact the Emergency Duty Team on 0300 303 8875. If it’s an emergency, dial 999 and ask for the Police.
Properties in the Pennines due to have refuse and recycling collections on Christmas Day will get a collection on Monday 28 December and the New Year’s Day collection moves to Monday 4 January. Calendars with the new dates have been delivered to all households, and information is also on the council website.
Household Waste Centre’s (Chichester Street, Rochdale and Spring Vale, Middleton) are open every day apart from Christmas Day and New Year’s Day.
Rochdale Boroughwide Housing closes for normal business at 5pm on Christmas Eve and will reopen at 8am on Monday 4 January. A 24 hour emergency repair service will operate over the festive period - 0800 027 7769. Their homelessness service will operate a limited telephone service on 29, 30 and 31December between 9am and 4.45pm on 0300 303 8548. At other times call the council on 0300 303 8875.
Rochdale Town Hall is open as usual up to Friday 18 December 2015 and then closed to the public for two weeks until it reopens on Monday 4 January. The Register Office at the Town Hall will open on Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 December.
Main Link4Life leisure centres including Heywood Sports Village, Middleton Arena and Rochdale Central Leisure – together with Touchstones Arts and Heritage Centre in Rochdale, open every day except Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day although on some days opening hours will be reduced. Marland Golf Course will be open every day except Christmas Day and New Year’s Day. For more details contact your local centre or visit www.link4life.org.
Hollingworth Lake Visitors Centre, café and toilets are open every day except Christmas day, 9.30am to 5pm.
Most Housing Benefit payments will be issued as normal over Christmas and New Year. Payments due to be received on Friday 25 December 2015 will be issued early.
