We will remember – crowds expected for Remembrance services
- 29 October 2015
Councillor Alan McCarthy, the council's Lead Member for the Armed Forces, said the Legion does fantastic work and is encouraging everyone to wear their poppy with pride: "The Legion's work is entirely dependent on the public's generous support – so please wear your poppy with pride, knowing that you are helping the Armed Forces community to live on. The sacrifice of those who earned our freedoms must always be remembered."

Please note that the Rochdale service will follow a new route. Organisations assemble at Rochdale Market in Smith Street (former black box site) at 10.15am. The route will depart into Bailie Street, head west along Bailie Street, into Yorkshire Street and (anticlockwise) into The Esplanade. Residents are encouraged to line the route to show support for the parade.
The Royal British Legion has a weekly base at Number One Riverside in Rochdale - every Thursday from 10am to 12pm along with other veteran support agencies. The Legion can also help them access other welfare services, financial support, property matters, education, retraining, bereavement counselling and membership enquiries.
Issued by Rochdale Borough Council 29/10/15.
