All roads lead to Rochdale on 23 August
- 11 August 2015
The courses have some good straight sections and are reasonably flat, making them relatively fast. There are over £2,800 of prizes available including cash for the first 3 men and women in the Half Marathon and 10K, plus bonus time related prizes.
All races also end with a final stretch back to the finish at Rochdale Town Hall.
Spectators are welcome across the route and on the Esplanade where there will be a ‘Sports Village’ featuring sports, fitness and health stalls. A wide range of information and advice will be available from specialists and local sports organisations, giving you a great chance to find out about other sports and how you can get involved locally. The ‘Sports Village’ will be open to spectators as well as those taking part in any of the events, from 9am to 1pm on Sunday 23 August.
Already more than 900 have registered for places and the organisers are hoping for crowds across the course as well as huge support at the closing town centre stage by the town hall.
Although the event is being held for the first time it has attracted runners from across the North of England as well as Greater Manchester said Councillor Janet Emsley, Cabinet Member for Culture, Health and Wellbeing: “Rochdale is a great location for an event like this, and we’ve managed to attract runners from across Greater Manchester, Yorkshire, Cheshire and beyond as well as many from our borough. It will be a great day for spectators as well as runners and we do really hope local people will come out and show their support to all our runners, many of whom will be raising cash for charity. It’s an opportunity to bring the family and enjoy the race day buzz. We are hoping this event grows each year and are already looking ahead to 2016.”
The event is being staged by Rochdale Borough Council in partnership with race organiser Cannonball Events and is sponsored by Williams Rochdale BMW.
