Link4Life Fit and Fed Christmas Parties
- 28 December 2017
School holidays are supposed to be a fun time of the year, but for a generation of children it isn’t. Children are isolated because there is no free activity programmes on offer, and some are at risk of going hungry because there are no free school meals.
Link4Life in partnership with StreetGames, Rochdale Borough Council, HMR CCG and RBH have been delivering Fit and Fed sessions throughout 2017. During the December half term Link4Life held Christmas themed Fit and Fed sessions for children and families that had been attending the program. Children took part in a variety of sports and crafts at Darnhill Library and Turf Hill Community Centre. They also received a healthy lunch partly provided by FareShare who save good food from going to waste and redistribute it to charities and community groups across the UK.
The children also received a gift that had been bought from donations from Link4Life staff and partner organisations. Speaking about the programme, Scott Hardy, Link4Life Fit and Fed Project Manager said: “‘We’re aiming to run Fit and Fed sessions in every holiday period during 2018 and want to work in different areas of the borough and with young people that need it the most”.
Link4Life is a charity that works in the heart of the Rochdale Borough community, inspiring people to live more active, creative and healthy lifestyles. We connect people with their cultural heritage, encourage creativity and foster well-being for each and every member of our diverse community.
Our vision is for communities that are active, creative and healthy and we work towards this through delivery of three complimentary areas of work:
- Active: Management of high quality sport and leisure facilities including fitness, swimming, team sports, outdoor and adventure activities
- Culture: Curating an ambitious arts, heritage and entertainment offer including exhibitions, outdoor events, live shows, education and projects
- Wellbeing: Delivering targeted community programmes which aim to improve people’s health, enjoyment and wellbeing.
