This year’s popular open art exhibition celebrates the artistic talent of Rochdale, specifically asking the public to create a postcard inspired by the Rochdale Borough’s art collection.
Established artists and amateurs alike are invited to exhibit their artworks responding to our very own public art collection. Celebrating the concept of ‘Mail Art’ that became popular in the 1960s when artists sent artworks through the post rather than exhibiting them through conventional channels, we ask you to create a piece to the size of a postcard!
Handmade, altered and bespoke postcards can be created in a variety of materials. Artworks have always been created to convey messages to their audience. What visual message would you send about Rochdale’s artworks with your postcard? Do you have a favourite artwork that you wish to celebrate?
Top prizes awarded by a judging panel include £100 and the chance for one of the lucky entrants to have their postcard reproduced and for sale in our shop.
The exhibition will feature all entries as long as you can get your entry either posted or delivered to us before 5pm Saturday 8 December 2018. Download your entry form below.
